Frequently asked questions

Everything we get asked, organized so you can find what you need fast.

Booking and packages

As a rough guide: a studio or one-bedroom uses 25–30 totes, a two- to three-bedroom home uses 40–55, a four-bedroom home uses 60–75, and a five-plus bedroom or large family home uses 90–110. If you over-order, we can pick up unused totes — there’s no penalty for sending some back unused.

We don’t do mid-rental top-ups — one extra delivery for a few bins isn’t worth the trip for you or us. Instead, add any extra bins you might need before delivery, at $5 each. Order a little high — better to have a few spare than come up short on packing day. Anything you don’t use, we collect at pickup at no charge.

Use the home-size guide on our quote form, or just request a quote and we’ll recommend the right package based on your move details. If you’re between packages, we usually suggest sizing up — running out of bins mid-pack is one of the more frustrating ways to lose a Saturday.

Delivery and pickup

We run two standard delivery windows per week: Wednesday evenings (5–8 PM) and Saturday mornings (9 AM–12 PM). Pickup runs in the same windows two weeks later. Need something off-cycle? Rush delivery is available for an additional fee.

It’s one flat fee based on your delivery zone — $29 in our core area (Zone A), $49 in the outer ring (Zone B), and $69 at the edge of our service area (Zone C). That single fee covers both the drop-off at your old place and the pickup at your new one. If your two addresses are in different zones, we price off the farther one — never a double charge.

Yes for the first delivery — someone 18+ needs to be there to confirm count and condition. For pickup, we can do contactless if the totes are stacked outside or in the garage and you can leave a key code or instructions.

ReadyCrate is Leawood-based and serves the nearby Kansas City metro: Overland Park, Leawood, Prairie Village, Fairway, Mission Hills, Mission, Lenexa, Shawnee, and surrounding areas. Outside the core area? Get in touch — we may still be able to help.

Default delivery is to your garage, porch, or driveway. We can bring them inside if there are no stairs and access is clear, but to keep your move calmer, we recommend you let us drop them at the door.

Rental period and extensions

Standard rental is 14 days, which fits most local moves comfortably. If you need more time, you can add a week for a flat fee per package size — $39 for Starter, $59 for Standard, $79 for Family, $99 for Large.

Just text or email before your scheduled pickup day. We can usually accommodate a one-week extension with no issue. We charge the extension fee to the card on file and reschedule the pickup.

If we have a route open, yes. Email or text and we’ll check the schedule. There’s no refund for early returns, but it’s a nice favor for a fellow customer who needs the inventory.

Damage, missing, and policies

Each tote is numbered. We count at delivery and at pickup. If a tote is missing or damaged beyond reuse, the replacement fee is $30 per tote, charged to the card on file. We’ll always email you first with the specific tote number — there’s a 48-hour grace period to find it.

Yes. Every tote is inspected for damage, cleared of debris, wiped down, and sanitized between rentals. We air-dry before stacking. It’s a documented part of our process — not a marketing line.

Credit and debit cards through Stripe. Once your quote is confirmed, we’ll send a secure payment link. We keep the card on file for any extensions, damage, or missing-tote charges, all of which are stated up front.

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your delivery window. Inside 48 hours, a $50 cancellation fee applies. Move dates can be rescheduled without a fee as long as we have at least 24 hours’ notice.
